A local business that has steadily grown to encompass new areas, locations, and pupils, the Nayland Driving School caters to those learning to drive on the roads of Essex. With the hybrid landscape of countryside and city centres, Essex is a county where learner drivers need to be granted access to and support in navigating roads of varying speeds and layouts. That’s why our Colchester driving lessons start in the centre of your local town or city, taking pupils along country lanes and smaller roads to help establish confidence in all settings and surroundings.

But with so many roads to cover, Nayland Driving School also caters to new and trainee driving instructors – training and supporting those who want to join our franchise and fill Nayland vacancies, as well as those looking to take their newfound business skills elsewhere. Here’s how our driving instructor training works, and what you need to know before signing up.

What qualifications and experience do you need to join driving instructor training?

All those who sign up for our driving instructor training must hold a full UK driving license that is more than three years old. Aside from that, all you need is buckets of enthusiasm and patience as we break down the most basic elements of driving and approach them from a whole new perspective, that you can not only follow but understand how to teach and communicate to others.

How long does it take to become a full and independent driving instructor?

While some training facilities will advertise short courses that empower you to become a driving instructor within a few weeks, the reality is that to equip yourself with all the skills necessary and book a test that allows you to become a licensed instructor, the process can take upwards of six months.

It’s important to note that it is perfectly plausible to complete the training within a few weeks, however, the need to book a test to become licensed is what will eat into your timespan and push it upwards. Once you’ve passed this test, you can apply for a driving instructor job with a larger company like Nayland Driving School, or you can branch out and operate your own local business.

How much time do I need to complete the training?

Driving instructor training with Nayland Driving School is designed to be flexible and adaptable within your current schedule. Not only that but the training will be adapted and tailored to help you combat your own challenges and difficulties – ironing out any issues you have, in the same way, that you might alter a driving lesson plan for a future pupil based on their strengths and weaknesses.

In short, driving instructor training presents an opportunity to turn a passion for driving and for teaching into your own business or a new career prospect. Learn more about our driving instructor courses and sign up for the online or in-person training, via our website.
